Time Machines is a journey to discover the universe.

THE EXHIBITION

Get ready for an itinerary aboard futuristic time machines created by man to observe the beginning of everything ever more closely. From the most remote places on the planet to space, from large telescopes to satellites, time machines are the result of Italian ingenuity and research conducted in the INAF observatories by women and men who, every day, with commitment and passion, contribute to moving the boundaries of knowledge human ever further away.

EVENTS

Throughout the four-month duration of the exhibition, a wide range of events will be organized at the Palazzo Esposizioni Roma. These will include high-level scientific meetings featuring prominent figures from the global astrophysical and space research community. Additionally, there will be scientific cocktail parties, Poetry Slam sessions, and debates involving intellectuals and politicians active in the field of culture.

What is INAF?

The National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) is the main Italian research institution for the study of the Universe. It promotes, manages , and coordinates research activities in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics, including participation in European Union programs and international organizations.

inaf FOR inclusion

The exhibition itinerary, in succession across three rooms, is created in two languages (Italian and English) and has many elements of inclusiveness for deaf, blind and visually impaired people: tactile representations that make the information on the different areas of an image tangible, LIS videos and sonification software that allow you to “hear” the images. Specifically, the Herakoi software was used, which allows you to explore the images in a multi-sensory way and listen to the sound of celestial representations. Using artificial intelligence, Herakoi allows people with visual impairments to interact with any image by moving their hands in front of the screen. During the months of the exhibition, other paths attentive to the universality and equity of knowledge will also be implemented. The educational and inclusive activities of the exhibition are carried out thanks to the contribution and collaboration with the OAE Center Italy and the UNIVERS@LL working group, which in INAF deals with the design of inclusive and universal contents that aim for equity in access to scientific culture.
