“At the top of the mountain overlooking the cosmos, night falls. With a mechanical shiver, the dome of the great observatory opens, opening a crack onto the universe. Imperceptible light filters through the darkness, arriving from remote stars: the astronomer holds his breath, focuses on a never-before-seen fragment of the cosmos. The scientific liturgy of the temple of light begins.”

TEMPLUM LUMINIS is a multimedia show by Angelina Yershova, pianist and composer from Kazakhstan, and Stefano Giovanardi, astronomer and science communicator. The narrative and musical path of “Templum Luminis” – a flexible metaphor for an astronomical observatory, and in general for any context in which science and emotion shape knowledge – develops around research, discovery and finally the perception of the wonder that arises from humanity’s connection with the cosmos. Through its intelligent sensitivity and sensitive intelligence, amplified by visual contexts created with artificial intelligence, and by sound registers that dose piano, voice, Tibetan bells and other acoustic and electronic instruments, each listener is led to confront the rational and emotional meanings held by the rays of light coming from the depths of a starry night. “Templum Luminis” was presented at the Auditorium of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, as an event linked to the exhibition “Macchine del Tempo” of the National Institute of Astrophysics, registering a sold-out and a notable public consensus.

Admission reserved for exhibition ticket holders valid for the day of the event.
