two days to visit the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, to look at the exhibitions from different points of view

On 16 and 17 March, the Viewpoints Festival returns to Palazzo Esposizioni Rom, a two-day event dedicated to inclusion and accessibility. As in 2022, this year too the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) participates in the Viewpoints Festival, this time with the theme “Sign and Sign Language”. This is an opportunity to visit the INAF Time Machies exhibition (on display until March 24th), observing it from different points of view through multiple languages and tools.

A rich calendar of events which includes guided visits to the exhibitions in LIS, readings and workshops in LIS and a multi-sensory planetarium designed and created to make the celestial vault more accessible.

YOU ARE A STAR

Bilingual readings and laboratory, LIS and Italian, from 5 years old

Date: Saturday 16 March, 11.00  a.m – Atelier

A tactile book and a workshop to tell stories, myths and legends of the starry sky and learn some astronomical signs in LIS together! A metaphor between stars and unique individuals, but also part of a universe of relationships! An immersive installation accompanies adults and children on a walk among the stars at the speed of light.

THE SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE

Sensory platform and LIS video on astrophysics

Date: Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March, 12.30 p.m.  – Forum 

During the days of the Festival, the Palazzo Esposizioni Roma Forum hosts various welcoming and multidisciplinary experiences, including astronomical ones: in addition to the sensorial platform to listen to the sounds of the planets, videos in LIS to learn about some astronomical signs and a selection of silent books, illustrated books and books tactile items from the Art Shelf collection to browse and read together.

TOUCH THE SKY WITH A FINGER

Visit and multi-sensory planetarium

Orari: Sabato 16 e domenica 17 marzo, 4.00 p.m. – Atelier

Have you ever seen the phases of the moon first hand? And how would our point of view change if we could land on the Polar Star? Tactile and sound exhibits to discover the universe with all the senses accompanied by Rachele Toniolo and Stefania Varano of INAF and Paola Di Mauro of Astronomia Tattile Pontina.
Among the exhibits of this installation, to make the celestial vault more accessible, you will find a multisensory planetarium that uses visual, acoustic and tactile stimuli to transmit both the apparent and physical characteristics of the stars in the night sky, thus offering a common perceptive vision for each type of users, blind, deaf, blind or visually impaired.

Round table on LIS signs of the art of science

Date: Sunday 17 March, 10.30 a.m. – Auditorium

Description of two research projects of the National Institute of Astrophysics – INAF and Ocean Space of Venice, both with ISTC-CNR-LaCAM, and of an experimental video project carried out by Palazzo Esposizioni Rome with the National Deaf Organization (Lazio Regional Council) and aimed at the younger audience.
After we will project the video work On the Other Ocean by Giulia Bruno and Giuseppe Ielasi, commissioned by TBA21–Academy and co-produced with the Institute of Marine Sciences CNR-ISMAR and with the LaCAM laboratory of the CNR-ISTC.
